I see you
You see me
Don’t even think
You’re gonna flee

I take your hands
Behold my eyes
Desire within you
Starts to rise

Like a fire burning your soul
Like a hot wire, it starts to glow
Like a hunger, it only grows
Tonight, for us, anything goes

Feed my lonely heart
Our lives entwined in flames
Need stronger than breath
The hunger brings nothing but death

I hold you
You hold me
I’m within you
You’re within me

I hold your life
Behold my need
Fire within me
Fueling greed

Like a fire eating you whole
Like a lost soul, no where to go
Like a hunger, it only grows
Tonight, for us, anything goes

Feed my lonely heart
Our lives entwined in flames
Need stronger than breath
The hunger brings nothing but death

I free you
You free me
I still need you
You still need me

I let you go
Behold my face
Presence of mind
Saving grace

Like a fire consuming coal
Like a lover, telling you go
Like a hunger, it only grows
Tonight, for us, anything goes

Feed my lonely heart
Our lives entwined in flames
Need stronger than breath
The hunger brings nothing but death
— Izzy Smallrow

The Hunger is a passionate song about the dragon's breath, and the need of their kind to feel on the life force of others.

Izzy said, "I wrote this song with a particular person in mind.  Our embrace was so pure, I didn't want to let them go, but I realized I was hurting them.  I couldn't have that, but part of me, some secret cruel streak wanted to hold on until there was nothing left of them."

The song mixes the imagery of Dragon fire with the passion of a lover's embrace.  The sexual, ominous, and heart breaking words come straight from Izzy's heart.  "When I was offered my Pearl, the thought of immortality consumed me."  He said in an interview with Spellbound,  "I never considered the price I would have to pay in insatiable hunger.  The fire is always there wanting to consume and destroy.  If I deny it, I will wither away.  If I indulge it, people get hurt."
