Arion

Arion are an extremely swift, nearly immortal bred of horse.  Many stories have circulated over the centuries as to their origin which is generally blamed an a cadre of gods behaving badly.  All that is known for certain is that the bred originated in Arcadia.  They are recognized my their black or fiery red manes, the lightness of their steps, and the speed at which they are able to run.

The cost of care and feeding an Arion has relegated them to the wealthy, but they are still prized steeds on account of their unmatched loyalty, nobility, and speed.  They are able to run across anything their hooves can touch, including water and the tops of plants.

Byangoma

Byangoma are birds who call tell fortunes, though they are renown for their finicky nature, helping only those they deem worthy.  Scholars have debated for centuries whether the Byangoma are intelligent beings, or if they merely have a magical instinct.  The species originated in modern Bangladesh.

Every person experiences this fortune telling differently.  Some claim to hear a voice, others receive visions.   The most common experience is to hear the birds song, and suddenly have an intuition about a future event.

Cu Sith/Cusith

Cù Sìth also Cusìth are large hounds from the fae realm close to the size of a large calf, with dark green or black, shaggy fur, glowing or flaming eyes, and a long braided or curled tail.  They are believed to be a harbinger of death when seen in the wild, and are commonly owned as guard dogs and pets.  Their fearsome reputation is often fostered by those who own them.

Griffin

Griffin come in many breeds, and are generally raised as companion pets and guard animals.

Common Griffin

The common griffon has a leonine body, with eagle-like head and wings.  Thought to be the true king of beasts, the griffin was originally bred as a herding animal.

Adar Llwch Gwin

The Adar Llwch Gwin (pronounced, " ad-ar thlook goo-in") originated in wales.  Unlike the common griffin, the Adar, as they are commonly known, also have the talons of an eagle on their fore and hind legs.  They are extremely inteligent, understanding human speech, and obeying the commands of those they trust.

Alce or Keythong

The Alce is a smaller, wingless breed of griffin.

Opinicus

The Opinicus is a griffin with leonine forelimbs and aquiline hindquarters.

Unicorn

Unicorn are horse-like creatures with a single horn.  Most are familiar with white unicorns, since they are prized simples of purity and power, they share all the color and patterns in common with horses.  While common unicorns are widely known, there are two other breeds.

Abada

The Abada are were a rare mutation of the common unicorn who grew two crooked horns.  Through selective breeding, the availability of Abada is more widespread.  They shed their horns every year.  These horns can act as an antidote to poison.

The Abath

Abath are the rarest bread of unicorn.  They are visually indistinguishable from the common breed, but the female sheds her horn annually.  Powdered Abath horn acts as an aphrodisiac and antidote to poison.
